Anti Tobacco Movement @ Amrita
ATMA is a voluntary organization led by the students of Amrita Health Care Campus, Kochi, and is enlisted by the WHO as one of the major anti-tobacco activities in south east Asia. Inspired and guided by Her Holiness Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, ATMA led a massive campaign for this noble cause. As a result, over a thousand people registered for the Quit&Win 2006 smoking cessation contest at AIMS.
ATMA blossomed in the hearts of some sincere Amrita Health Care students to actively fight against the tobacco menace on May 31, 2005. Since then, ATMA boldly continues to battle against the weed that kills in various forms. Activities of ATMA include:
- Educating school and college students
- Tribal awareness workshops
- Telemedicine interactive classes
- Quit Tobacco Clinics
- Awareness camps
- Exhibitions
- Films
- Posters and media campaigns
